A lovely memory we have of John is his love of animals.

This we first saw when we first met Sue and John in Ampthill in the early 1970s.

Here we were introduced to Shep, one of their early Rough Collies.

After their move to Coxhall Mill John had a great affection for his goats, one of which I unsuccessfully tried to milk.

The attached photo is a favourite of ours showing our dear friend John, a gentle giant, holding one of his lambs in the days when they kept some sheep. I was lucky enough to get to hold one myself. This was so John could castrate it with an elastic band. John the shepherd.

A man of so many talents so sorely missed by us all.
